The Night System has four parts and one job: move urine away from the skin the moment it arrives, without anyone getting up. Here is exactly how it fits, runs and cleans, so you know what the first night looks like before the box arrives.
Four things in the box.
Pump unit
Rechargeable 12 V, 2,800 mAh. Power switch, manual-drain button, four-LED battery bar. Lives on the nightstand or the floor.
Silicone cup
Soft medical silicone with a raised rim, vent holes and a liquid sensor. Three fits. Rinses clean.
Two briefs
Cotton and mesh, velcro waist tab, adjustable straps. One on, one in the wash.
Jug and bag
A 2 L jug with lid for the bedside, plus a 2 L drainage bag for travel or tight spaces. Tubing about 1.5 m each way.
Three steps, ten minutes.
Fit the cup and brief
Snap the cup to the four stud points inside the brief. With the person lying down, fit the brief and adjust the side straps until the rim rests softly against the body. It should feel held, never tight, and the sensor contacts at the base of the cup should sit lowest.
- Men: the tube leaves the bottom of the cup and runs down the inner thigh
- Women: the raised rim sits against the lower opening; check it lies flat when turned on the side
- Warm the cup in your hands first on cold nights
Connect and switch on
Push the cup's tube onto the inlet port of the unit, and the second tube from the outlet port into the jug lid. Set the unit and jug on the floor or nightstand, lower than the bed. Flick the power switch: the red light means it is on and listening.
- Keep the charger plugged in on the nightstand for continuous use
- Press the manual-drain button once to check the pump runs and the line is clear
- Route tubing under the edge of the sheet so it is not pulled when the person turns
Sleep
When urine reaches the sensor, the green ring lights and the pump draws it through the tube into the jug, then stops. Most cycles last a few seconds. The person feels a brief pull of air and then nothing; the skin is dry and the sheets stay dry.
- Very small volumes can sit below the sensor; press manual drain in the morning
- The 2 L jug covers a full night for almost everyone
- If the green ring stays on, check the cup is seated and the tube is not kinked
Which cup?
Men
A soft tubular cup that encloses the penis. The right choice for most men. Pick this unless retraction is a known issue.
Men (retracted fit)
A shorter, wider cup for retracted anatomy, common with age, cold or after surgery. It seals against the body rather than along a length, so nothing slips out.
Women
A contoured oval cup with a curved raised rim that sits against the lower urethral opening and seals when lying on the side. Held by the brief, not by tape.

Five minutes, then the day.
- Switch off and unclip the tube from the jugEmpty the jug into the toilet and rinse it.
- Unsnap the cup from the briefRinse the cup and tubing with warm water; mild soap once a day. Air dry.
- Swap in the second briefThe used one goes in the normal laundry. Two briefs means there is always a clean one.
- Wipe the unit, leave it chargingA damp cloth only. Never submerge the unit or run water into the ports.
