A PureWick Alternative for Women

In one paragraph: Quietdry's Women's Night System is an overnight urine-collection system for women in bed at night. Instead of a disposable wick that is replaced regularly, a contoured, washable silicone cup with a soft raised rim is held in place by a cotton brief. A sensor in the cup starts a small rechargeable bedside pump when urine arrives and stops it when the cup is empty, draining into a 2 L jug. No wicks to reorder. US$299, free tracked US shipping, 60-night money-back trial.

Wick vs cup: the practical difference

Wick-based (PureWick™, Surity®) Cup-based (Quietdry)

Is a cup right for her?

Good fit if: she spends the night in bed, lies on her back or side, doesn't have an indwelling catheter, and you are paying for wicks yourself.

Think twice if: she moves about a lot at night or gets out of bed, a covered PureWick is available to her, or the care team has concerns about the skin in that area.

Setting it up

  1. Snap the cup into the brief at the four stud points.
  2. Put the brief on with her lying down; adjust the waist tab and side straps snug, not tight.
  3. Check the rim sits flat against the body, connect the tube, switch the unit on.
  4. In the morning: empty the jug, rinse the cup and tubing in warm water, launder the brief and fit the spare.

Questions

Does it work lying on the side?

The women's cup has a soft raised rim shaped for side-lying, and the brief holds it when she turns. Check the seal after turns for the first few nights.

Does anything go inside the body?

No. It is fully external.

What if it doesn't suit her?

You have 60 nights from delivery: a full refund, or a different fit at no charge. Worn cups and briefs don't need to be sent back.

Is it a treatment?

No. It collects urine; it does not treat incontinence or any condition.
